On May 13, 2005, Richard Battaglia updated the band policy with Brad Leblanc to grant permission for official band sanctioned soundboard recordings to be included in our collection. The first release is from 11/28/2003. To update with other dates as they become chosen and we are notified.
Brad, Richard Battaglia here - tour manager and front of house for the Flecktones. Since we are not touring this year - we decided that we would release 4 sound board tapes this year to keep our fans interested and not forget about us! These 4 shows are sanctioned by us. We would be glad if that was even mentioned in the available info about the show. They will come out in drips thru out the rest of the year.
On January 8, 2003, BFFT gave permission to Tom Horton for shows to be hosted at the Archive- Audience recordings, no SBDs [except as band specifically sanctions], Flecktones only.
Additional admin note: This section is for BFFT gigs only. Bela's or other members' side projects with other folks, such as with Edgar Meyers, should not be entered here as permission has not been granted. Edgar Meyers, for example, is reportedly not taping-friendly. Thanks!

Tom,
It is ok for our fans to trade live show recorded with microphones. We do not allow mix board taping, so we wouldn't want any unauthorized board tapes to be traded on your site.

(and to Diana,)
You can archive only live microphone recorded shows. No CD's or board tapes.
Any board tape, unless it was a radio show is with out authorization.
Thanks.

Also, re the issue of side projects, on 1/14/03 Bela responded to Tom:
Hi Tom,
Edgar and I are not into putting out live tapes of our show,
as we are putting out a live album of that same material in
late 2003.
So please don't put it up on the web for download.
Obviously we can't stop people from doing so, but we
definately would prefer for it not to be done.
Thanks for your understanding,
Bela
Policy
The Flecktones do allow audio taping of some of their performances. Absolutely NO video taping is allowed. We don't set up a taper section. If the venue does not permit taping, we will comply with their wishes. Our contracts request that there should not be any reproductions of any kind. This is a standard clause that protects the promoter and the Flecktones. If you attend a show you should be prepared for the possibility that you will not be able to bring in your recorder. Sorry, we don't allow board tapes, just microphones. If you do tape we are concerned that your taping does not interfere with other audience members in any way (this means microphones stands blocking someone's view or just causing a scene). Some venues are more compatible to the physical set up of microphones than others. The specific situation will decide the outcome.
